Downham Health Centre
Multi-use Sports Facilities
Blakedown Sport & Play were employed by the London Borough of Lewisham Council to construct a tarmac tennis and netball court and an artificial turf pitch at the Downham Health & Leisure Centre. The overall facility footprint was an area of 1,600 square metres built on an open field site that had to be extensively excavated and levelled for work to begin.
Client: London Borough of Lewisham Council
Contract Value: £210,000
Build Time: 14 weeks
Both the MUGA and pitch were constructed onto an engineered tarmac base with shockpad, and both were completed with perimeter fencing and floodlighting. The playing surface chosen for the pitch was Edel’s PP24mm sand-filled turf, with seamed sports lines marking out two mini-football pitches. To complete the development, Blakedown also carried out soft landscaping works to the facility’s confines.
