Long-awaited sports pitch

Gordon’s School in Surrey have chosen Blakedown Sport & Play to construct a brand new synthetic multi-use sports pitch and to resurface their two tarmac tennis courts. The selected playing surface for the full-size sand-filled (astrourf) pitch was Edel’s LSR 24mm with in-laid sports lines for football, hockey and tennis.

The two tennis courts were re-surfaced with a new tarmac top-layer and then sprayed with an acrylic performance coat for better grip and lifespan. During construction, Blakedown also put in place a ducting infrastructure to allow floodlighting to be installed at a later date.

After a long struggle to obtain planning and funding approval, Chew Valley School are delighted with their new facility which was part of a £1.2million sport and leisure development project.

"The project was well managed from start to finish - had it not been for the bad weather just before Christmas the completion would have been two to three works earlier than expected!
The whole school including students, PE staff, and management are absolutely delighted with this long awaited pitch and I would personally like to thank Blakedown for their efforts in producing a first class facility."
