Blakedown Sport and Play were employed by Sharnbrook Upper School (now part of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation) to install a full-size, 101.5 x 63 metre synthetic sand-dressed pitch with four recessed goals.
Constructing on a 'green-field' site, the build included excavation and levelling, installation of a new drainage system and stone foundations, a double macadam layer, 20mm insitu shockpad, and an Edel LSR/NDR sand-dressed sports turf with in-laid lines for hockey, football, and 5-a-side football.
3.6 metre high weldmesh fencing was erected around the perimeter of the pitch, with 4.5 metre high extensions behind the goals. Each section of fencing was fitted with timber rebound boards, and a 1.2 metre high spectator rail and path were also installed.
The pitch was lit with an eight column 350lux floodlighting system, and the project was finished off with hard and soft landscaping work and a new 144-space tarmac car park.
