Third Generation Rugby Football Pitch

Blakedown Sport & Play are proud to have installed a new 7300m2 Third Generation sports pitch at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys using Edel Touchdown 65mm rugby artificial turf.

A new, state-of-the-art, full-size, artificial turf pitch for rugby and football was built using Edel's 'Touchdown' 3G sports turf laid onto a Dynamic stone base with 25mm shockpad. Heavy duty twin-bar fencing was installed to surround the pitch, and the eight column floodlighting system allows the pitch to be leased out during evenings all year round.

Following consultation with Kent County Council, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Sport England, the Football Association, and the school community, the construction of an all-weather synthetic pitch to accommodate both rugby and football plus three cross-play 7-a-side football pitches was agreed.

The construction also included fencing and floodlighting, allowing the surface to be used for night time matches and during the winter. Blakedown’s work at the school was completed with three new long jump straights and landing pits for the school’s athletics teams, and a new 1400m2 tarmac car park.
