Sand-filled Tennis Court Re-construction

Blakedown Sport & Play were awarded the contract to reconstruct the tennis facilities at Watford Grammar School for Boys. The site footprint measured 67m x 31m onto which a sand-filled (astroturf) sports turf was laid. Six new floodlighting columns were erected providing 350lux brilliance with minimal light spillage.

The synthetic turf product selected was Edel's 24mm LSR laid on top of a 10mm shockpad with white lines for tennis seamed into the turf. Blakedown also reconstucted the two-layer macadam base and surrounding kerbing.

To complete the reconstruction, 3m high weldmesh fencing was installed with 1.2m high wooden kickboarding and a 2.75m high divider netting rail to separate each set of courts.
