Conwy Borough Council employed Blakedown Sport & Play to construct a new artificial turf pitch for hockey and football at the Bryn Elian school in Colwyn Bay. The size of the pitch was 85m by 58m with sports lines seamed into the turf.
The construction consisted of excavating and re-grading a large volume of earth, installation of a dynamic stone sub-base, and the laying of NottsSports envelope system as the playing surface. The project included the installation of a 300lux Raise and Lower floodlighting system, 3m twinbar fencing surrounding the pitch, new goals and sports equipment, and new footpaths for access to the pitch.
To keep the scheme in sympathy with its surroundings, the project was finished with 1.2m post-and-rail pine and weldmesh perimeter fencing, pine kickboards, and a tarmac spectator area and external perimeter footpath.
