Blakedown Sport & Play have carried out extensive reconstruction work to an existing sand-filled (astroturf) pitch at Middlesex University’s Hendon Campus. The footprint of the old pitch has been transformed into two high-spec 3G and sand-dressed multi-use games areas.

The 3G MUGA is to be used for football and rugby and was surfaced with Edel's Touchdown 60 artificial turf with top specification shockpad meeting IRB Rule 22 performance standards. The sand-dressed MUGA was also installed with a shockpad to accomodate tennis, basketball, netball and cricket. Five cricket bays with retractable netting were also installed.

Blakedown also constructed two further games areas on the Hendon Campus site: both sand-dressed MUGA's to be used for basketball, tennis, netball and 5-a-side football. The facilities were completed with heavy duty fencing and recessed goal areas plus basketball hoops and backboards.

Finally, a 60m traverse climbing wall was installed on two sides of the 3G pitch with colour coded grips to allow for different levels of difficulty: the longest climbing wall of its kind in the UK. All of the sports facilities needed new drainage systems, new stone and macadam base layers, and new floodlighting to complete this large project.
