Hockey Pitch Resurfacing
Overview
Blakedown Sport & Play were appointed to deliver a full hockey pitch resurfacing at Kingsbridge Community College in Devon. The college required an upgraded, high-performance facility suitable for both hockey and football, capable of meeting FIH accreditation standards while supporting community use.
Scope of Works
The project involved the complete refurbishment of the existing synthetic pitch, including:
- Removal of the existing shockpad and surface
- Cleaning and preparation of the engineered base
- Installation of a new 15mm in-situ shockpad
- Laying of the XtremeTurf SDH-R synthetic turf system by Act Sports
- Application of permanent line markings for both hockey and football
- Throughout the project, Blakedown’s team maintained close communication with the school to ensure minimal disruption and timely delivery.
The Result
The completed pitch provides a durable, high-quality playing surface that delivers excellent performance characteristics for both sports. The new system enhances player comfort and safety, while offering long-term value through its resilience and low maintenance requirements.
