St. Olave’s Grammar School

Blakedown were awarded the project after a competitive tender process to build a new full-size sand dressed artificial hockey pitch.

The project began by repurposing materials, excavating the existing grass playing fields and tennis courts and using it for the new pitch’s lower subbase.

Adhering to stringent planning conditions, Blakedown collaborated with a drainage engineer for a custom design using specific aggregates and innovative soakaway techniques.

The construction met industry standards, comprising 250mm stone, 40mm tarmac, a 15mm insitu SBR shockpad, and high-quality Sand Dressed FIH approved carpet.

Beyond the pitch, Blakedown installed essential facilities: fencing, kickboards, nets, tarmac areas, LED lighting, sport equipment, landscaping, and parking with EV charging points.
