Brwyngwyn School

Blakedown Sport & Play were appointed to deliver a new full-size 3G pitch at Bryngwyn Comprehensive School in Llanelli, constructed in partnership with Lloyd & Gravell Ltd. The project forms part of a wider investment in high-quality sports facilities across Carmarthenshire, aimed at providing modern, all-weather surfaces that support both school and community use.

The scheme involved the full construction of a World Rugby and FIFA Quality-certified 3G pitch. Works commenced with comprehensive groundworks and the formation of an engineered tarmac base, providing a stable foundation for the playing surface. A Trocellen shock pad was then installed and topped with an Act Sports Rugby Maxx 60mm 3G surface featuring SBR infill, ensuring optimal safety, durability, and performance. The project also included the installation of new floodlighting and perimeter fencing systems to extend usability and enhance security. Rugby posts and football goals were fitted following the completion of surfacing works, and final landscaping and finishing touches were carried out to ensure the facility was fully integrated within the school site.

The completed 3G pitch provides a high-performance, all-weather surface suitable for both rugby and football, meeting governing body standards for competitive play. It delivers consistent, year-round usability, improved player safety, and enhanced performance quality. The facility also increases access for both school programmes and community sports activities, strengthening local engagement in physical activity.

This development has significantly improved the sporting infrastructure at Bryngwyn Comprehensive School, offering students and local clubs a first-class facility for training and competition.
